Poster Tiles in Bengaluru: Picture Walls for TV and Pooja Rooms

Poster tiles print one large picture across a set of tiles for TV walls, pooja rooms and elevations. Learn how they are laid and how to pick the right one.

Poster tiles

Poster tiles turn a wall into a single picture. A landscape, a waterfall, a deity, a flower or an abstract design is printed across a set of tiles, and when they are fixed in order the whole wall shows one large image. They are a popular choice for a TV wall, the back wall of a pooja room, a staircase wall or a house front.

What poster tiles are

A poster tile set is a group of tiles that each carry one part of a bigger image. On their own, the tiles look like random pieces. Together, they form the full picture.

Poster tiles come in glossy, high gloss and matt finishes, on both ceramic and vitrified bodies. Common themes are:

  • Nature scenes: mountains, waterfalls, forests, trees
  • Deities and religious motifs for pooja rooms
  • Flowers and botanical prints
  • Abstract and modern art panels

Poster tiles come as ready-made designs in set sizes. Do not plan on custom printing or "any size you want". Ask the shop which designs and set sizes are available at the time you visit, and plan the wall around those.

How they are laid

Each tile in a set is usually marked with a number or a row and column position. The installer lays them out on the floor first, checks that the picture is complete and the right way up, and then fixes them to the wall in that order.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • Do not open boxes in a mixed heap. Keep each set together and check all pieces are there before work starts.
  • Joints will be visible. A poster wall is still a tiled wall, so thin grout lines run across the image. Narrow, even joints help.
  • Match the grout to the image. A grout close to the main background colour hides the grid better than plain white.
  • Centre the picture. Plan its position against the TV, the pooja shelf or the staircase line before fixing, and fill the remaining wall with plain tiles.

Choosing the image for the room

A picture that looks good on a phone may feel very different at full size on a wall.

  • Viewing distance matters. In a small room you stand close, so a busy, detailed image can feel overwhelming. Calm scenes with large shapes work better.
  • Size it to the wall. A large set on a narrow wall gets cut off. Leave some plain tile around the image so it reads as a framed picture.
  • Think about the furniture. A TV will hide the middle of the wall, so choose an image that still makes sense around the screen.
  • Match the mood. Soft colours suit bedrooms and pooja rooms. Stronger scenes suit a living room or a staircase wall.

Glossy or matt

Glossy / high glossColours look rich and deepReflections from windows, tube lights and the TV can hide parts of the image

If the wall faces a window or sits under bright ceiling lights, matt is usually the safer choice. Our guide on matt vs glossy tiles covers this in more detail.

Indoor, outdoor and cleaning

Indoors, a poster wall keeps its colours for a long time. Outdoors, on a compound wall or front elevation, years of direct Bengaluru sun and rain can fade printed colours on some tiles. Ask whether a design is meant for outdoor use, and choose a shaded or covered wall if possible.

Cleaning is simple. Wipe with a soft damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid acid cleaners and scrubbing pads, which can dull a printed glaze, especially on glossy tiles.

Common questions

What are poster tiles?

Poster tiles are a set of tiles with one large picture printed across them. When laid in the right order, the tiles together show a single image such as a landscape, a deity or an abstract design.

Can I get my own photo printed on poster tiles?

Do not assume so. Poster tiles are usually sold as ready-made sets in fixed designs and sizes. Ask the shop which designs and set sizes are available now.

Will the joints show between poster tiles?

Yes, thin grout lines will be visible across the picture. Narrow, even joints and a grout colour that matches the image's main tone keep them from standing out.

Can poster tiles be used outside?

Some are used on compound walls and elevations, but strong sun can fade printed colours over the years on some tiles. Ask whether a design is suited for outdoor use, and prefer a covered wall when you can.
